For this student project, I decided to create an advocy style infographic encouraging sustainable land use through vegetarian diets. Using diet land-use models from the World Resources Institute, I calculated how much land would be needed to support Americans eating typical meat-heavy diets in the year 2050, vs. how much land would be needed to support vegetarian diets. I decided represent the amount of land needed by using state outlines, rather than abstract shapes, to make the very large numbers more tangible and understandble to the reader.
